Worker fired regarding nursing home negligence evidence

When a Wyoming family entrusts an elderly loved one to the care of a nursing home, it is reasonable to expect that the manner of such care will be provided according to the utmost level of accepted safety standards in the assisted living care industry. If a particular patient has special needs, such as those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, it is up to nursing home officials to assign workers who are properly trained and fully capable of addressing those needs. Alzheimer’s patients and others who suffer dementia-related illness may become combative as their diseases progress. A case in another state resulted in patient fatality, and the decedent’s family says nursing home negligence is a causal factor in their great loss.

Family members of the decedent say they were absolutely shocked to see photographs of their father showing that he had suffered two black eyes. Prosecutors say they believe the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma inflicted from the fist of a nursing home staff member. The worker reportedly issued a statement to police, saying she was tired and overworked and had made a mistake.

It is logical to assume that most care providers suffer fatigue at some point in their careers. The work can be physically and emotionally demanding, especially when providing care and support to mentally ill patients. However, physically abusing a patient is never acceptable under any circumstances. The decedent’s son apparently arrived several hours after his father suffered injury, which included bone fractures of his eye sockets.

The worker named in this nursing home negligence case no longer works at the facility in question. Sadly, this type of case is not an isolated event. In fact, there may be a Wyoming family dealing with similar situations at this time, in which case, it would benefit them to seek legal support from an attorney who is experienced in nursing negligence litigation.
